I grew up in Alcona County and I've been in the Mountain Inn prior to its Extreme Bar Makeover. It was...a bar. Now it's modern and gorgeous. I was in awe when I stepped in. I was hoping the food tasted as good as the inside now looks. And it does. It's nothing special. It's bar food. But it's bar food done right. I appreciate that. We started off with an artichoke dip appetizer. This dip was good, it was certainly competent. However, it came with these fried pieces of bread as opposed to tortilla chips. I could eat my weight in those things. So so good. I ordered a fish and chips special and my companions ordered burgers. The cod was hand battered and fried to perfection. My companions' burgers looked juicy and SOMEONE ordered onion rings which were out of this world. Really solid. I would go back in an instant. In fact, this will probably be my new go-to place when I go home to visit.

Place to go in North East Michigan! Great food, fast and friendly service. Been here several times. Pizza is great. Cod special on a Friday night was the best I have had. The decor speaks to pride of ownership and attention to detail. Must visit!

One large room entails majority of tables & bar. Huge stone fireplace wood floor & ceiling very nice. The grilled chicken salad cones with toasted pita bread nice touch. Hamburgers are thick & juicy both very good. Food & drink specials that are real specials not just a selection off the menu. Service is fast friendly waitress good prices on food overall great value.

This was our second time visiting the Mountain Inn. The first time was during rifle season. This visit was quite different. Service was extremely slow, fish tasted like it was fried while it was still frozen. Not much else to say, and it's worth mentioning that it was the Fourth of July weekend. I'd be willing to try them again on a slower weekend.
